7yr old -sweating badly

Hi Doc

I am very concerned about my little 7yr old daughter (in March turns 7) she started sweating at the age of 4, I know this is very abnormal and took her to the paediatrician. He said that kids these days develop early and that I should not worry to much about it. So I did not worry much about it - made my daughter use mum cream so that kids at the daycare dont make fun of her, Now she has started grade 1 and it seems like the mum cream is losing its effectiveness, cause in the mornings - she is fine and there is no smell, but as soon as she comes back from school at 14:00 - she smells a mile away. I spoke to my sister inlaw and she said that perhaps my daughter has an over active glad which can be removed. Doc my question is can I do this procedure at her age (7yrs)? or what medication is there available that can control this

Please help

Your little girl has had this problem with body odour since the age of 4 years. This is a sign of early puberty which is known as 'precocious puberty' The doctor should have tested her hormone levels when she was seen at 4 years. She should be seen again by a paediatrician as she still is too young to be having this sweat problem. Please tell the doctor that she started with the problem at 4 years. She can use any of the anti-perspiratnst in the meantime but it would be best if she used the roll-on kind that is alcohol-free and is a low allergy anti-perspirant.

I had a similar problem when I was young, my mother bought Mitchum for me, and it worked very well!

Good luck!
