6 yo son headaches

Dear Prof

Me 6 yo son has been complaining of headaches on and off the past few months. He has no other symptoms, apart from stuffy-ish nose (not bothering him). He is taking 1 DDAVP tablet at night, and has been for 2.5 months now. We do not give the tablet if he drank excessively during the early evening. The headaches are not related to any event and are not severe. TWice needed to give Panado or Nurofen. Last year he had an ''episode'' where he suddenly had a sever pain in his head, and then almost fainted. He recovered quickly though. I just want to find out whether we need to have him checked out by our paed? I can''t make rational decisions anymore due to our 3.5 yo son who has Chiari 1, and has turned me into a worry-pot.

I am always concerned when a child complains about headaches. While most of your son's headaches are very mild at least two have been severe. It is possible that he is starting to develop migraine headaches or there is some other explanation for his headaches. Your son should be seen by a paediatrician.
