6 mth old grandchild with very bad consitpation

My grandchild suffers very badly from consitpation.
We have recently add purity prunes to her diet and I have twice given her a cylcerine suppoitory but neither has helped. She does not want to take her Rooibos tea anymore and does not like water much. When we add old fashioned brown sugar to her bottles (every bottle) it does somethimes help. She has always had this constiption problem but it has worsened since she is on solids. sometimes she just screams in pain and it takes ages to console her. What can we do to help aleviate this problem permanently. She is on Isomil and has porriage in the morning and putrity fruit in the afternoon and veggies at night with 4 to 5 bootles of milk in 24 hrs. She will be 6 mth old on 10th May and weighs approx. 9 kgs..

Your baby granddaughter's constipation is probably due to the soya formula she is on. Why is she on a soya formula? If she is not allergic to cow's milk then there is no need for her to be on a soya formula. If she can tolerate milk change her to a casein rich formula such as Lactogen2. If she cannot tolerate milk she will need to be tested for milk allergy and then a decision should be made as to which formula she will need. Most of the milk-free alternatives to soya are expensive formulas.
