6-month old feeding habits...exhausting

Dear Prof

One would never guess this is my third baby...I am still confused about whats going on right now. Babes is 6 months old, having 2 to 3 small meals a day (I''''d guess about 1 tablespoon per meal), drinking 400 ml expressed breast milk at creche, and then (since a week ago) nursing at 17h30, 20h00, 23h00, 01h30, 03h00, 05h30. Not just snacking to sleep, but full feeds! I am exhausted!! What do you make of this? He is over 8 kg, quite tall, and trying to crawl, so he is very active. Can a growth spurt last this long?

Your baby son's weight is above the average for his age so there is no doubt that he is doing well. He seems to be a big hungry baby. He should be on more solids now,so you certainly can increase the amount of solids that he eats.It may be necessary to change over to a formula that will satisfy a hungry baby such as Lactogen2 for example.

yes, growth spurts can go on for a bit. Sometimes babies also just want hte comfort at night.

Perhaps try offering one bigger meal of solids at supper time rather than a few small meals during the day, which baby doesn''t really need at this age. Maybe add some protein as that is supposed to help with sleep from around this age.
