5weeks old baby

Hi doc,

My 5 weeks old gal is very irritable.
1.she has a small reddish rash on her face and ears. The skin under her eyes is dark
2.Her nose is always blocked by snorts day n night I take them out but they come back since she was 4 days old
3.She always in pain due to stomach cramps, gas. It seems like she gets stomach spasms because she will kick her legs n arc backwards, she also rolls due to pain and cries, it disturbs her sleep
5.She has watery stools since she was 2 weeks old (about 5-8 nappies a day)

She on breast milk only, she refuse to bottle feed but I try to bottle feed her every 2nd/3rd day she only drinks 5-10mls I give her Isomil but today she drank 90mls because I was not around to breast feed but her stomach pains are worse.

She feeds on demand and well. Could she have an allergy or what could be wrong?

Her father is lactose intolerant

It seems that your baby hasthe same problem as her father. She also appears to be lactose intolerant. These symptoms can appear on breastmilk as well. The fact that she won't bottle feed is going to make things difficult. She needs to be on a lactose free formula or on a soya formula. The choices are NAN LF or Isomil1 or Infacare Soya1.

Cut out all dairy from your diet and see if that makes a difference (drink a calcium supplement). I''ve heard that you have to cut it out for 10 days before you might notice the difference.
