Q.

5 YR OLD DISTURBED SLEEP

MY 5 YEAR OLD HAS BEEN VERY RESTLESS THE LAST FEW NIGHTS, KEEPS ON WAKING UP AND TOSSING AND TURNING IN HER SLEEP. THERE HAVE BEEN NO CHANGES IN HER ROUTINE OR ANYTHING ELSE WHICH I CAN LAY MY FINGER ON THAT COULD BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. WHICH AVENUES CAN I EXPLORE TO FIND THE PROBLEM?

One of the most common causes of this kind of sleep disturbance in a young child is a blocked nose. Make sure that your daughter's nose is not blocked and if it is use a Sterimar nasal spray half an hour before bedtime.Other possible causes are a sore ear or tonsil infection or a urinary system infection. So if her nose is not blocked it would be best to ask your doctor to examine your daughter to make sure that she is well.
