4year old still wearing nappies

My friends little boy is turning 4 in 4months. He stil wears nappies at night. She recently found out that she is pregnant and her sister has also just had a little boy. She decided to take him off the nappies becuase for a while he would wake up with a dry nappy but lately he wakes up and his nappies are soaking wet?

Do you perhaps think that becuase he is no longer getting the attention he used to get from her sister and hubby due to the new baby and also now his mom is pregnant that that could have an impact?

thank you.

Your friend's little boy is rather old to still be wearing nappies at night. He may have gone back a bit with his night time nappies because of the events in the family. It would be a good idea for his father in particular to pay him as much attention as he can now. He should read to him at bedtime. Start a star chart and offer him a small reward if he can go 3 nights in a row without wetting his nappy. Gradually increase the number of dry nights for a reward and then let him stop wearing a nappy at night.

Mine is 3 and been sleeping without a nappy since last October or so. You have to wake him up at night to go and pee or before sleeping take him to the loo and pee,in that way he will wake you up when ever he wants to pee. Its a mtter of traing him to realise that he needs to go to the loo and alerts you in time more especially at night. And during the day mine just shouts for me to come and help in terms of wiping clean, otherwise he goes by himself.

My son will be 4 in 5 months time, and is the same. Most nights his nappy is dry, but there are still nights that the nappy is totally soaked. I''ve not been brave enough to try him without the nappy at night, although, I am thinking about trying it soon. Maybe her son is like mine - I''m not pregnant and don''t have any other major changes going on. I think he will have dry nappies when he is ready.
