4.5 year old not dry yet at night

My 4.5 year old son has been dry druing the day for at least a year now, but its only the odd night that he wakes up dry. He is therefore still on Pampers at night. We have tried limiting his fluids after 17h00, taking him for a wee when we go to bed at about 22h00, but no luck. He just doesn' t wake up from a full bladder at all. Does this sound normal fo rhis age? When should we think of taking action. We aren' t putting any pressure on him, though, only praise when he does wake up dry.

Your son is reaching the age at about 5 years of age when treatment would be advised for bed wetting. In the meantime try using a star chart and reward system. Explain to your son that he will get a small present if he can get 3 stars in a row which means no bedwetting for 3 nights. Once he has achieved this, build up slowly to 4 nights then 5 nights and so on.
