Q.

4-year old not sleeping

what can be done to assist a 4-year old boy in getting enough sleep? He can go days with just a few hours sleep, and will eventually ''crash'' and sleep for hours! It is affecting his behaviour (gets worse the more tired he becomes), his concentration, his attitude etc. And the more tired he is, the more difficult it is for him to settle down and rest. His parents mention that previous medication to make him sleep have had the opposite effect in that it made him more hyper! Please help!

Paediatrician

It is important that sedatives are avoided with this little boy as they will make him even more active. It is possible that he has a form of ADHD.It would be best for him to be seen by a paediatrician so that a proper diagnosis of his problem can be made.
