4 year old boy scalp ringworm

My 4 year old had a ringworm on his scalp sometime in April and I got him Lamasil from the chemist and have been applying it since. The ringworm seemed to be healed until about 2 weeks ago when he it came back and in different areas on his scalp.
I took him to the GP and she prescribed Sporanox syrup. I gave it to him for 5 days (5ml twice a day) as per the GP''s instructions and continued to apply Lamasil cream, however, the ring worms got worse last week (almost like it was a break out). They seem to have small blisters and look worse than they did before the Sporanox. When I wash his hair the blisters burst and he starts bleeding slightly (they look very read!). Is this normal? I looked at the side effects on the leaflet inside but could not pick up anything relevant. Is there anything I can do in the meantime? Should I continue with the Sponarox?

I stopped applying Lamasil as it is not helping. I have Betadine Ointment at home so I have been applying it to the ringworms for the past two days –  is this fine? It seems to be helping a bit (I think).

Please advise - I’ m really worried.

Ringworm on the scalp in children can be very difficult to treat. There is only one treatment that works and your son's ringworm sounds very severe. Ask your doctor to give you a prescription for Griseofulvin Syrup 250mg once a day by mouth for 6 WEEKS! Do not miss even one dose! Do not use any treatment applied to his scalp including Betadine.
