4 week old baby

Hi Doctor, my baby is 4 weeks old, he used to be on Nan Pelargon but changed him to Lactogen last week. My daughter and I have had stomach cramps since yesterday. The same day my babies bowl movement increase from one a day to about 6 and last night and this morning he has been crying in pain. Could he have the same stomach bug? How often can I give him buscopan?

It is possible that your baby has picked up a gastro infection. It appears that both you and your daughter may have the same infection. It is common for babies who develop a gastro infection to develop a temporary lactose intolerance problem. It may help your baby to give him a soya based formula for about 4 weeks until he has settled down again. You can try Isomil1 for this. Buscopan only masks your baby's symptoms and it would be best not to give this medicine to your baby more than once or twice a day at the most.
