Q.

4 month old with wet cough

Hi Doc.
Thanks for your advice on 31 March, greatly appreciated.

Her cough has not really subsided yet and it seems that her throat actually hurts now and then when she coughs..this is actually causing her to drink her milk a bit difficult and sometimes she refuses her milk feed completely. She drinks fine from my breast and she will drink her water (i''''ve been putting in some honey to losen the phlegm, she''''s brought up quite a bit already)..

I''''m just worried that she''''s not getting enough milk..I only give her breast at night so my milk flow unfortunately is not all that much.

I took her temp during the night because she was a bit restless, it was 37.8 more than her norm temp - the slight rise in temp was probably due to the sore throat. I treated it with panado and will continue doing so if and when necessary. I don''''t suppose there''''s anything else I can give her to soothe the sore throat? Will it not result in a chest infection?

thanks and regards,
Nas

As your baby has a fever now it is important to make a diagnosis of her problem. She may have an ear infection in addition to her possible sore throat. Your baby should be seen by a doctor.
