3month baby with wheezing chest

Good day Paed

Please assist. My 3 months baby boy is suffering from a wheezing chest in a way that one can hear him breath from afar. Its like there is a lot of phlegm in his chest just like someone sufefring from wet coughs. He has been suffering from this since he was born and though i have taken him to the doctor several times he did not prescribe anything for him but said i should give him warm water with a little bit of sugar and that is not helping him at all. This is starting to frustrate me because its like he breaths with difficulty. Please help.

I am concerned about your baby as he has been wheezing since birth. This cannot be ignored and a cause for his wheezing must be found and correctly diagnosed. He may have a reflux problem or there may be another important cause that is causing him to wheeze. It would be best to ask a paediatric pulmonologist to see your baby. There are experts in all the main centres in SA.
