3 year toddler - circumsize or not

I took my son to a doctor after he had been complaining that his genitals were sore who referred me to a Urologist. The Urologist recommended circumcision in 6 months (then it was Jan 2009). I' m not sure if I should do. Isn' t he too young for that? When is the best time to do it ? Winter or Summer? What is the right age to do it? to prevent problems at a later stage?

This operation is now only done if there is a definite medical reason for it.This operation has been recommended by a urologist. There is no particular time of year which is best and since it is a safe operation there should be no concern about your son's age now.

Your son' s discomfort may be caused by a number of factors that can be identified and eliminated without resorting to surgery:
- Pulling back the skin can cause irritation - refrain from pulling back the skin for cleaning
- Your washing powder / softener can cause irritation - try a different brand
- The foreskin may be separating (a natural process) that can cause itchiness - this is normal and will subside when the separation has completed.

Real medical conditions later in live are rare, less than 1 percent of men actually require medical intervention.

Treat the condition to resolve the issue and respect your son' s right to an intact body. Do not circumcise for this as it is not necessary.

There is no medical or biological need to circumcise - at any age. Men were designed with a foreskin as it plays a role in the proper sensory and mechanical functioning of the penis. There is no right age for this as it is simply not required.
