Q.

3 year old daughter always sick

Dear Doc

My daughter attends a preschool and she is always coughing, runny nose, sometimes very congested and a tight chest. Recently she has been running a high fever only at night but in the day no fever. Should I be worried about mengingitis.

Your daughter is having a difficult time with frequent infections. This is probably due to her attending the pre-school where children often infect one another with coughs and colds. In most cases these infections are due to virus infections.Your daughter does not appear to have any symptoms which would suggest that she has meningitis. She may have an ear infection or even a urinary infection if she has a fever at night.
