3 year old boy potty train

wish my son would just go potty on the toilet period. Every time I suggest it he screams " NOOOOOO"  at me. Even when there is a reward offered. The one time he did have a successful poop on the potty he began " holding it in"  and we ended up in the ER with Severe constipation. Potty Training is by far our hardest challenge so far. He has the awesome looking underwear ready, but won''t wear it. Won''t go for the reward system. I have a strong-willed one. He just want to wear nappy. Pls help or must i just be patient and wait?

First give your son a complete break for 10 days. Do not mention the word potty or potty training. Then start again. Let him wear trainer pull-ups. Try a star chart again and if he gets things right and can get 3 stars in a row, give him lots of praise and a small reward. Then raise the number of stars he needs for his next reward by one at a time until he succeeds in getting 7 stars in a row, by which time the problem will be over.
