Q.

3 year old...

Hello Doc!
Welcom back!

Wrote to you about my 3 year old with a constant headache.
Took her to the ENT for grommet check up, and had x-rays taken, but sinus was clear.
Made appointment last week at a new peaditrician and over the weekend she actaully got sick... Vomitted on sunday night and last night because of the post nasal drip.

So, at the pead, she thought my llittle one has a iron defficiancy, which the blood tests confrimed. Her count is 3.9... So, she prescibed 5ml Ferrimed twice a day for 3 months.
Apperently that is because she does not really like red meat, and because I put her on cowsmilk when she turned one.
Because she and I do not enjoy red meat, we normally eat chicken and fish at night.
So, I am afraid my 15 month old will develop the same problem.
He is on cows milk as well....

Can this also be related to her headache?

Another question, both doctors that looked into her ears commented that there is a lot of wax, I know my hubby has the same problem, is there something we can do?

Thank you so much for your time!
Sorry for all the questions, just really concerned at this point....

Thank you.I am not surprised that your little daughter's sinuses are clear. She does not have any frontal sinuses at her age and so is unlikley to have typical sinus headaches. Her haemoglobin level is extremely low and she has severe iron deficiency anaemia. This may well cause her to feel weak and unwell and could possibly cause her to have headaches. It is essential to give her the iron supplement regularly with meals. Her stools will appear darker due to the iron she is getting. Ear wax is a normal defence mechanism in the ear canals and usually does not cause any problems unless it builds up in really excessive amounts which is not common.
It would be a good idea to check your baby son's haemoglobin level as well.
