Hi again doc, thanks so much for your advice last week. baby is doing so much better on Isomil and feeds are going so much better. However he drinks up to 120 mil at a time. Is he just a smaller eater, or should i be concerned? He now feeds every 3-4 hrs.
He does not appear to be losing wieght and is so much more content now after feeds.
Can you also please advise what are the long-term effects of being lactose intolerant? Will he outgrow this or will I need to watch his diet as he grows?
Many thanks, R

I am pleased to hear that your baby is doing so much better now.He will drink what he requires and the most important thing is that his weight is good and that he is content.Lactose intolerance is the inability to digest the lactose part of milk. This is due to the lack of an ezyme called lactase in the intestines. It is not an allergy and lactose intolerance tends to persist for life. When he is older or even as an adult he will not feel comfortable after drinking milk or eating dairy products.
