Q.

3 Month - Movicol

HI Dr,
My 3 month old daughter went on the bottle a week ago. (Novalac AR - advised by my Paed) A couple of days ago she struggled very hard to pass a stool. I eventually had to help her, because she started to tear. Now I give her a quarter teaspoon of Movicol in her first bottle in the morning. And she hasn' t had a problem since. I thought of giving rooibos tea with treacle sugar, but don' t know if the extra sugar is bad for her. And also don' t want her do drink too much tea instead of milk.
Is it safe to give Movicol?
Thanking you

There is no point in having to give your young baby a laxative because she is so constipated by this formula. Stop the formula immediately. There are other ways of treating reflux. Speak to your paediatrician.
