2WEEKS OLD BABY' S STOOL TOO HARD BABY CRIES WHEN PASSING STOOL


Dear Doc,

My 2wks old baby cries when passing stool i noticed when i was changing her nappy that her stool was too hard and she was still trying to pass stool but couldn' t because her stool was too hard i think, she is currently drinking NAN PARLAGON am not breastfeeding because i' m HIV positive....currently she is taking 100ml with 4scoops of the formula as directed by the hospital.........

What can i do to help her find passing stool easier......

Your baby is only 2 weeks old and already is constipated. This must be due to the NAN Pelargon formula. This formula is usually advised for the children of HIV +ve mothers. I am sure that your baby has been treated to prevent transmission of HIV, so you should be able to start her on Lactogen1. Let me know if she continues to be constipated once she is on Lactogen.
