23 Months Stool

Hi Doc

I have question regarding my 23 Months old girl  She has a very healthy digestive system, she passes a stool, 3 -4 times a day, but they havent been solid for over a week. It is not gastro like (green Runny), it is almost Mustard in colour, but more slushy, texture. Is this normal, or has she got some sort of stomach bug or is it due to diet, nothing has changed, for breakfast she eats the usual Creche cereals (Oats, Tasty wheat etc) for lunch she eats a cooked meal, she eats a Yoghurt a day, which she has been doing since she was a year, eats a sandwhich at school at about 3, and a normal meal for supper which I cook when I get about at about 5:30. I dont agree with sweets at all, so the only treat she gets a few nights a week is a Jolly Jammer biscuit. Please advise if I need to change her diet or take her to a doctor.

thank you

It is very difficult to be completely certain about your little ddaughter's stools, but she seems to be well and her stools are only a bit looser than usual ,not watery as with diarrhoea. This may simply be a reaction to fruit or fruit juice which contains a lot of natural sugar called fructose and may cause this kind of reaction with toddler's stools. Try and keep her off fruit juice and all fruit except apples for 3 days and see if she settles down.
