Q.

20 months old son wont eat

Hi Doc, hope this finds you well. my son is 20 months old...healthy and happy, plays, explores, naughty, but i worry he refuses to eat. he eats very little. i try different kinds of food, but if it''s something that i have to feed him, he justs keeps it in this mouth them spits it out, but when it''s food that he can feed himself, then he does eat a bit, like fish fingers, chicken, vienas, chips etc. he loves oranges/apples but refuses to eat other fruit. i worry because he is really not eating enough. he loves his bottles though....Nido and also rooibos tea...what can i do to make him eat food?

It is a pity that you did not include your son's weight in your question. Many children eat rather poorly at this age, but will usually eat enough for their needs.Your son is happy and healthy.Let him feed himself at the table now and give him food that he likes but obviously he must try other food as well.Give him a spoon and let him get on with it. Do not watch him eat. He will watch you eat and will start to eat better after a while. You will need lots of patience.
