Q.

2 year old not sleeping well.

Hi there

My 2 year old has had a cold for the past week. Needless to say I' ve had very little sleep and I' m at my wits end. I just don' t know what to do anymore.

I' ve been giving her Coryx and Mucospect cough medicine, as all she has is a runny nose and a bad cough, and no fever. But she wakes at about 1 am and cries for me and then I have to sleep next to her, she will cough until about 4am of which I do not sleep. I feel like a zombie from all the sleep that I' ve missed.

What can I do to help her sleep better - to get the rest and sleep that I need?

She is still on the bottle, which I' m struggling to get her off and still has the dummy as well. Even when she is not sick (she still wakes at least 3 times a night).

What to do???

Your little girl is being kept awake by her blocked nose and possibly by the Coryx as well. Coryx contains pseudoephedrine which is a powerful stimulant and makes young children feel miserable. Keep her nose open with Salex nose drops used twice day every day until she is better. Stop the Coryx. If her cough continues to worry her please ask your doctor to see her as she may have a chest infection. I will leave the last part of your question regarding weaning her off the night feeds to our regular forum members to answer.
