2 week old baby gets a lot of hickups

Hi there,

I was wondering if there is a specific reason that my 2 week old baby gets the hickups a lot? Might there be a problem? He does not get it after every feed - but sometimes he gets it after he has had his bottle, and then he struggles to go to sleep as it irritates him a lot. Other times it just pops up any time. Is there something I can do to make it stop? It has happened twice that the hickups also caused him to vomit a bit of his milk.....!!!
Regards.

Your baby's hiccoughs may well be due to reflux. His symptoms are too significant be due to winds, although you must wind him well after every feed at this stage. I presume that you are breastfeeding your baby. It would be best to speak to your paediatrican about this problem so that the best treatment option can be started.
