Q.

1jr old not drinking

My daughter is one year old and for the last three days she has refused some feeds. She now only drinks about 300ml of milk a day. She does not have a fever or a sore throat according to the GP. She eats, but not a lot. She weighs 9.4kg and has met all her milestones. She is very active.

She does seem more irritable and clingy (the last week) than usual and she has a rash around her nose and mouth. Could this be related?

Thanks

Paediatrician

It is difficult to be sure what is causing yor baby's symptoms without being able to see her. She may be developing an illness called herpes stomatitis which is a viral infection of her mouth. Another possibility is scarlet fever or an illness called Kawasaki's disease. It would be best if she was seen by a paediatrician.
