Dear paed
My LO is 4.5 months old. I had him at our Pead about two weeks ago with a slight red throat, the Pead did not prescribe anything for this as he felt it wasn' t severe enough to warrant anti biotics. He has been better since. Last night he started with a bit of a cough, a tickle in the throat kind. He hasn' t had a temperature at all. This morning he screamed when he drank his bottle, so I' m not too sure if the sore throat is back as this is exactly what he did the last time. We only used Panado syrup. I just phoned my Paed and he is on leave, the receptionist recommended I give him 2.5ml of Alergex or Deselex. Would this be ok? He doesn' t have a runny nose.

Do not give an antihistamine such as Allergex or Deselex as this is not due to an allergy and in any case your baby is too young to take either of these medicines. It is possible that your baby has a throat infection and it would be best if you asked your GP just to check him to be sure about the diiagnosis.
