Q.

18 month old waking every 2 hours at night.

My 18 month old son seems to be waking up every 2 hours like clockwork. I then give him his bottle and he either finishes or has a few sips and falls asleep again. I think that he may be using the sucking of the bottle as a soothing mechanism. Is there any way that I can stop this? I reduced the number of scoops in his night time bottle to 2, for the 3 bottles that he finishes at night because he is already 15kgs. He doesn't suck on a dummy.

There can be several reasons for your baby waking so often at night. This may simply be due to a habit that he has developed. Other causes are a blocked nose, acid reflux or he may simply be hungry. By reducing the amount of milk powder you run the risk of him becoming hungry during the night. Although your bay is already 18 months, it may help to give him a sweet dreams formula at bedtime. Try Novalac SD and follow the mixing instructions carefully. If this does not help try Lactogen 3 which is a good formula for babies who get hungry often.
