18 month old - tummy problems

Dear Prof

Hope you are well.

My 18 month old has been struggling with constipation since he was a couple of months old. A while back he was treated for worms (which he had), and he did quite well for couple of months, but now we are back to him being constipated. I have been treating him with dufulac and I try not to give him too much dairy. He goes everyday and normally it is the morning session that is painful, but then later the day it seems much better.

He is in so much pain sometimes. And I have to give him a suppository every now and then.

What could be the cause? He is drinking either nido or 1st growth milk. he eats well - lots of fruit etc.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

It is difficult to be sure about the reason for your little son's constipation. One possibility is that this is due to him being on Nido growth formula.Try him on only Parmalat First Growth milk He seems to be on a good diet. It would be a good idea to repeat the worm treatment as children often become reinfected with worms at this age.Do not give him cheese of any kind.
