17 month old had fever, now rash

My 17 month old son had terrible cough and runny nose. Then he had a very high fever for two days (sometimes over 39degrees!). Took him to the doctor on the 3rd day who diagnosed tonsilitis and ear infections, prescribed antibiotics, ear drops and suppositories for the fever (which stopped on the morning on the 4th day). Now two days later i noticed a rash had appeared on his trunk and back, along his neck and hair line and starting on forehead - is this measles? If so, what is the best course of action? He was vaccinated at 12 months and is due to have 18month booster. Thank you

Your little son has Roseola or 'baby measles' This is not the same illness as measles and in any case he has been immunised against measles. The roseola rash will last a day or two and then disappear and his fever will settle completely. There is no need to give your son any antibiotic as this is a viral illness.
