Q.

16 month old

Hi Dr
My 16 month old daughter has a red vagina, but no rash on the outside. She seems to be in some discomfort when her nappy is being changed &  also seems to want to ''scratch'' there. She has no other symptoms. We were at the beach the weekend, so could it perhaps be some sand that got inside?
What can I put on it?
Thanks!
E.

This could well be due to the sea sand irritating her.If she does not have any discharge and has not been on antibiotics lately then candida infection is unlikely. Try using Bepanthen nappy cream and see if this helps her.
