13 month old hiting head

my 13 month old baby, hits her head with her hand. she only seems to do it, when she gets upset, when she wants something or cant do something. she then hits the one side of her head with one hand. but then she starts crying afterwards. what can i do, so that she wont hurt herself? and it cant be very good. i am at home with her, so she has my full attention, everyday. there is no stress or so in our house and nothing has changed.

This is quite common in this age group and happens when your baby gets upset or frustrated especially when she cannot get her own way. It is a passing phase. She will not really hurt herself when she hits her head with her hand. When she starts doing it try and draw her attention immediately to something else and in most case she will stop hitting herself.
