My daughter is 11. She has been sick in excess of 5 weeks. She has been in hospital for 15 days but still no diagnosis. Extensive Blood works have been done but all returned negative results. Tested for TB, Swine Flu, Tick bite fever, Hipititus, Coxacci, allergies, etc. Symptoms : high fever (which has gone now - lasted 5 days), on/off rash covering entire body, constant dry cough (bark), loss of appetite, permanent headache, sore/red eyes, swelling behind right ear which is increasing in size, occassional vomiting, occassional nose bleeds, hiccups up to 2x per day. On x-raying her chest, there is pneumonia but doc says when listening to her chest, it is clear. Microplasma come back 3 x pneumonia but doc insists chest clear. At my wits end. Need some help please.

It is difficult to be sure about the diagnosis of your daughter's illness. She may have any one of several illnesses with these symptoms. She may have measles with measles pneumonia. Other possibilities are glandular fever or rheumatoid arthritis. There are several other possibilities. It would be best for your daughter to be seen by another paediatrician at this stage as a second opinion is really needed here.
