Q.

10.5 month old underweight

Hi Paed

My 10.5 month old son has been sick on and off the last few months and has subsequently not gained any weight. Our pead isn' t yet worried too much about his lack of weight gain, as there have been good reasons for it. He is about 74 cm and weighs only 8.8 kg which is around the 15th percentile for his age and length I think. How can I boost his caloric intake healthily, without affecting his appetite?

Your baby son's weight is only slightly below the average weight for a baby boy of 10 months which is just over 9kg.His length is above the average for his age. There is no need for concern.
