Q.

1 YEAR GETS FLUE TOO OFTEN

MY 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HAS A RUNNY NOSE AND STUFFY CGEST TWICE A MONTH. SO BASICALLY 2 WEEKS IN EACH MONTH SHES NOT WELL. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVER SINCE SHE WAS BORN. WE HAVE THE AIRCON ON AT 27 DEGREES, SO I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAPPENS SO OFTEN. IS THIS SOMETHING I NEED TO WORRY ABOUT - IS THERE SOME OTHER UNDERLYING PROBLEM THATS NOT BEING PICKED UP. I DO TAKE HER TO THE DOCTOR AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH , BUT HE HASN' T PICKED UP THAT THE COLDS ARE RECURRING. IM VERY CONCERNED, BECAUSE AS A RESULT OF THIIS SHE TAKES MEDICATION - AND I THINK TOO MUCH MEDICATION ISNT GOOD FOR HER.

PLEASE ADVISE

It is possible that your daughter is allergic and what you think is a cold may in fact be nasal allergy. She should be tested for allergies if there is a family history of allergic illnesses. Of course she may be getting repeated infections if she is not allergic.Does she attend a creche becuse the pattern of her illness suggests the so-called 'creche syndrome'? It would be worthwhile to strengthen her immunity using Reuteri infant drops 1ml daily for 4 weeks. She could also use Viral Guard Junior daily from now on right through winter.
