What is TB?

TB stands for Tuberculosis Bacillus, the bacterium which causes the disease.

The most common disease which is caused in adults by this germ is TB of the lung, but TB can affect almost any organ in the body, e.g. lymph nodes, brain and bone. From a public health perspective, TB of the lung is the most important type because it is infectious.
