Neck pain can be, well, a pain in the neck. If you sit in front of a computer all day, chances are that you know only too well what this feels like. Here’s how to ease neck strain.
Take action:
Improve your posture (Pilates can be a great help here) – bad posture is the main cause of neck strain; lie down to relieve pain, but don’t use a thick pillow that might crimp your neck; make use of massaging to ease muscles; do neck exercises – a gentle range of motion and resistance exercises can help; keep your work at eye level – adjust the height of your chair, desk or computer screen; avoid staying in one position for too long; avoid bad neck habits such as keeping the phone between your neck and shoulder, falling asleep on a chair with your head tilted back or resting on your chest, or shampooing your head in the sink.
