In South Africa it is registered for the treatment of the superficial fungal infections.

 

For this medication to be effective, it has to be applied regularly, even if you do not notice an immediate effect. It is advised not to discontinue treatment before the recommended course has been completed, otherwise the original infection may return.

 

How does tolnaftate work?

Tolnaftate interferes with the formation of cell membranes of species sensitive to the medication, thereby either inhibiting growth or killing the organism.

Overdose action
