Q.

Blood pressure

My blood pressure was 160/85 this morning after 3 16.9oz of Mt. Dew and I have been very sedentary for the last year. I used to exercise run and walk everyday. Is it safe to start walking when my blood pressure is 160/85? I know when I exercise my blood pressure is very good. 120/70. maybe even less. I also know Mt. Dew is not good for blood pressure but got to have my Mt Dew. I want to start lifting weight too. Tell me is it safe to do these things when my blood pressure is elevated.

Lifestyle changes is the step one in the treatment of hypertension, yes, which means healthy eating, sleeping, manage stress, reduce salt, reach your ideal boy weight. But it is not actual treatment and it seems you need actual anti-hypertensive medicine. Please see your dr and make sure your BP is <140/90 at all times, to prevent damage.
