Dr Jacomien de Villiers qualified as a specialist physician at the University of Pretoria in 1995.

She worked at various clinics at the Department of Internal Medicine, Steve Biko Hospital, eg General Internal Medicine, Hypertension Clinic, Diabetes Clinic, Lipid Clinic, Cardiology Clinic at 1 Mil Hospital, as well as private locums.

She has a private practise since 2001, as well as a consultant post at Steve Biko, where she does an Endocrine Clinic, as well as Academic teaching ward round. Special interests include Hypertension, Obesity, Insulin resistance, Thyroid problems and other Endocrine problems.
