Q.

Urgent ear infection

to whom it may concern

I have been suffering with vertigo, nausea and " talking through my ears"  for the past 2 weeks - my doctor put me on antibiotics, the vertigo improved slightly, the nausea disappeared but the " talking through my ears"  is still here.

I went back to the doc on saturday, she doesnt want to put me on more antibiotics, she put me on SERC.

I am slightly worried that my ear is not going to fix itself, will this damage my hearing?

Should I keep my ear free from water / not use my i-pod etc.

Please advise urgently
Thanks

Dear Vee

If your ears does not clear up, it would be advisable to go back to your doctor or if you want a specialist opinion, then see and Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. I would also advise that you have a full hearing and middle ear functioning evaluation by an Audiologist after all the medical problems have been cleared up.

It is very important that you should keep an eye on your symptoms. Let me know if you need a referral to specialists in your area (izabelle@widex.co.za)
