Q.

Tinnitis

Ek sal terugvoering / raad verskriklik baie waardeer aangesien dit op hierdie stadium my lewenskwaliteit begin beï nvloed. Ek bly in Port Elizabeth.

Hi Willie!

Tinnitus can be a very discomforting sensation. It is a good idea to keep in touch with your Audiologist with regard to management. You may discuss the possible use of a tinnitus masker with your Audiologist, this would be based on your Audiologist's findings and discretion. The type of tinnitus may vary. Conducting specific tinnitus retraining exercises may help relieve symptoms. Try reading a book before going to sleep. Maybe also try listening to the radio before going to sleep. Try to avoid very quiet environments. If you have to be in a quiet environment try reading to refocus your attention, or listening to the radio at an appropriate volume. Stress and the use of stimulants {ie: caffeine, nicotine} may worsen the sensation of tinnitus. Consider also visiting an Ear Nose and Throat {ENT} specialist, for a consult to rule out any possible physiological concerns.

Kind regards...
