Q.

Singing ear/pressusre feeling

Hallo

I''ve got a constant ringing in my left ear. I did go to a specialist and are on medication, not that it''s helping at this stage. There is a follow up appointment. The question I''ve got is when closing the nose and trying to equalise the pressure the left ear clears but the right ear causes a blowing effect/tears from my right eye. Is this normal or is there something blocked in my right ear? Thank you for your time.

Hi Lucas!

It should be noted that much research has been conducted in regard to the symptom that you have described {tinnitus}. Hence, also engaging an Audiologist and ENT {Ear Nose and Throat} specialist to assist with regard to diagnosis/treatment would be beneficial.

The procedure that you seem to be attempting in medical terms is known as the Valsalva Maneuver {moderately forceful attempted exhalation against a closed airway}. However, please take care not to blow too hard and engage with your appropriate health professional to advise you accordingly with regard to the procedure.

It also seems imperative that you consult with your appropriate health professional for a full examination in light of your presenting symptoms.

Kind regards,
