Q.

" water"  in ears

Good Day!
Its been quite a while now that every now and again it sounds like i have water in my ears, especially the right side. When i open my mouth to eat or speak or even to swallow. Ive been to the dr before and he cant see anything wrong. I am currently 11weeks pregnant, and went for a check up today at another doctor. He cant see anything either... It is getting worse now that i am pregnant.
What can this be? It is quite irritating!

Hi Bellaloo

The sound of water in the ears can be a number of things. To get an accurate evaluation consult an audiologist. An audiologist will be able to assess for Eustachian tube dysfunction (the tube that allows your ears to equalise), otosclerosis (a middle ear disorder often worsened by pregnancy) or a number of other outer and middle ear pathologies. Once the audiologist has identified what the 'water' is, an ENT will manage it medically.
