Hi MOM

The operation to insert grommets - Myringotomy tubes, is a very small operation done under general anesthetics. Your ENT will work closely with an Anesthetist to provide the best anesthesia for your child. I know of no fatalities during this type of procedure.

As a mom this is always a worry. I can assure you that the ENT specialists take great care when operating on small children.

Good luck.
