Q.

hearing loss

HI

my mom is suffering from loss of hearing( some time youhaveto repeat what u r saying 3 times, if she cannot read your lips, and worse on the phone she just assumes what a person maybe saying. I noticed this about a 2 years back bt unfortunately did not do much about it. My granny &  her brother also had the same problem but hers was more severe she had to read lips.

Pls help is loss of hearing hereditory ? can it be fixed , can you refer us to an audilogist perhaps, for an assessment before this goes too far,

Dear Pat

It is important to have her hearing evaluated by an Audiologist. Please write to me and i will gladly refer you to someone in your area - we do not give out contact detail on the site. (izabelle@widex.co.za).

Hearing loss can run in families, it can also be caused by the aging of the hearing system as well as a number of other possible causes. The best is to get to the root of the problem as soon as possible.

Please let me know if you need any further information.

Kind regards
