Ear problems

My daughter is 12 yrs old - in the last week or so, after rubbing the outside of her ear, she gets a slight watery bloody discharge from her ear. It has happened on both sides, although not at the same time. She claims not to have used earbuds recently, although I know she has used them previously.

Also, she claims that she cant hear so well from her left ear - I will take her for a hearing test for this.

What can the problem be, and is it serious?

many thanks

Hi Sue!

Please make sure that your daughter stops using ear buds. No foreign objects should be inserted into the ear. Noting the feedback received, please visit an Ear Nose and Throat [ENT] specialist as soon as possible for a consult. Thereafter, it would also be a good idea to visit an Audiologist, so that your daughter's hearing may be assessed and monitored.

kind regards...
