Ear problems

I have a constant thumping in my ear and have been to the ent for various tests (MRI, balance, hearing, bloodtests) and nothing. Within the last 3 months I had 2 experiences where I had to be rushed to the ER because of extreme dizziness. The first time I recovered very quickly and the ER doc prescribed SERC for a week. A week ago I had a very bad experience at work and I was throwing up and couldn' t lift my head, I was so dizzy. I again ended up at the ER and again SERC was prescribed. This time, however, I had to lie in bed for 3 days and I am still battling with dizziness, especially if I drive. My housedr blames all these on an inner ear virus infection and has prescribed MITIL. Even with the MITIL I still feel dizzy (although not so badly) and lightheaded the whole time. I am really feeling desperate to just feel normal again. I have a 2 yr old and also a very demanding work, and I cannot cope feeling like this. I have made an appointment with another ENT now for a second opinion, but according to my housedr there are not much more test that have not been done already. Please advice.

Dear Mommy

I am not certain if you have done this already or which specialists you have seen but it would be advisable to see both an ENT and an Audiologist that specializes in balance disorders. If you don't know of someone in your area, then please contact me and i will gladly refer you (izabelle@widex.co.za)

Please let me know if you need any further information

Kind regards
Izabelle Pieterse

I have severe Tinitis in my one ear. It started as just a soft noise but has increased to a level that is very stressfull and i can not hear with this ear at all. I visited an ENT who rinsed my ears with a needle and water and charged me R 700, now the problem is worse. I am sure that in this day and age there must be a cure for this?
