Q.

Ear problem

I have a very annoying sound in my left ear I went to a GP last year, he didn't see anything wrong, but he referred to the ENT, even the ENT didn't see anything.

He gave me vitamin B complex and said I must come back after 3months if there's no change. I went back and he saw nothing wrong. I changed my doctor, the next one told me its stress, and gave me stress treatment, but no change so far. I'm scared help me.

Hi Sandy

It sounds like you have Tinnitus. This is a high pitched ringing sound like crickets. Tinnitus can be caused by many things including stress, medication, blood pressure and hearing loss. What is important is to get to an Audiologist to have a full hearing evaluation. She will be able to refer you to the necessary medical practitioner for help.

Fell free to contact me at debbiep@widex.co.za for a referral to an audiologist near you.
