Ear problem

Hi there,
I' ve had some issues with my ears, they making ringing noises and my hearing also suffers. I am also prone to ear aches. I' ve consulted my GP and she said my ear drums are dry and not opaque. She recommended that I use an ear bud with baby oil to keep them moisturised and said that the cloudiness is probably a scarred tissue and there is nothing that can be done about it. Can you advise of what I should perhaps do. Thanks.

Dear Khaya

Please refrain from using cotton buds in your ears, they do more harm than good, unless you are just applying oil to the skin of the Concha. I would recommend that you see an Audiologist for a full hearing evaluation. He/she will then be able to refer you if any further evaluation is needed. It is advisable to also see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist.

Please let me know if you need any further information or a name of a professional in your area and i will gladly refer you (izabelle@widex.co.za)

Kind regards
Izabelle Pieterse
