Dad losing hearing

Hi!

My dad (62) is losing his hearing somewhat - for the last couple of years. The problem is that he won''t even acknowledge the problem - which leads to arguments in the house because he often mishears things, and we have to speak loudly! I think he''s scared of a hearing aid.
What would you recommend - I thought if I could tell him that new hearing aids are small &  unobtrusive (I think he pictures one of those massive old-fashioned pink ones), and are easy to use, it could help.
Would a hearing aid be applicable for age-related hearing loss?

Many thanks!

Hi Jay!

A good idea would be to talk to your dad and get him to consider an appointment with an Audiologist, as this would be in his best interest and also probably in the best interest of the family. Hearing aid technology has progressed greatly and there are designs that are quite aesthetically appealing to users. A hearing would help with regard to your dad's possible type of hearing loss, however, for more information and a detailed account on this, a visit to an Audiologist is imperative.

Kind regards.......
